40 Billion for Nazis in Ukraine, but none to stop an Island from disappearing in America.

This is taking place where I used to live and where I am from. If I wanted to still live on the island it would be nearly impossible to do as there is no affordable housing. Entire generations who grew up there and are native there are having to move out in adulthood because there is no available housing. Any property there can make more money renting weekly to tourists than is can to a year round resident. And so whenever a house goes up it will be owned by someone not from the island renting to people who are also not from the island. Usually these homes are empty all winter long, yet they make so much money in the summer that it is worth it to the property owners. They also stay in their own homes on vacation which pushes out the motel and hotel industry run by any locals.

Now some of these summer homes are falling into the water. But make no mistake about it, the entire island is threatened. I cannot count how many times we have had to rebuild the road. Of course Marc Basnight the long time Democrat state senator for NC would hire his own company Basnight Inc to do repairs. After his death these DOT profiteers decided to rename Oregon Inlet Bridge to the Basnight Bridge.

You can see two roads there. The one on the left connects to the Bonner bridge. The one on the right connects to nothing. You will also notice that the roads and bridges cannot move to the left any further for there is no land. The bureaucrats in the NC government decided rather than fighting beach erosion, to build a new bridge right next to the existing bridge.

Why so high?

Because of Roanoke. You see they dredge Oregon Inlet which goes under the Bonner Bridge. I refuse to call in Basnight. Because of this dredging, they are doing everything south of it get erosion. Well the Northern most town on Cape Hatteras (Coratoan Birth place of America) is a place called Rodanthe. Richard Gear did a film there called Nights of Rodanthe. The house HE stayed in was moved and preserved.

They picked it up and moved it backwards. But what about everyone else’s homes and businesses? Sorry not part of the privileged class.

Then it was sold

I know what some people are thinking, “Why would some idiot build a house on the water’s edge?” They didn’t. The water’s edge wasn’t there when the houses were built.

This is of Salvo and Rodanthe in 1989 and during a storm the picture was taken because the water was so unusually close! As you can see there are three sets of dune and quiet a distance to any properties. The Road is near the Pamilco sound.

I am using a photo that was showing how close the water got to show how far the water was away.

The beach erosion is not natural and even if it was, so what? Every coast line in America takes measures to reverse mother nature, likewise in places where is snows heavily, do you not salt the roads and plow the snow out of the way? Rivers take measures to prevent flooding too. A beach is part of infrastructure the same as a highway or canal. They ought to be taken care of and yet we do not even have a neutral situation here. The state has done a few things.

1 Sand removal. The geniuses at the Army Corps of Engineers decided to remove sand from the beach to fill in a swamp where the government then put a Coast Guard base. Here is a the best part, that base is no longer used. The erosion threatened it, so instead they sold it to Yankees who built a bunch of giant houses on it to rent to tourists. That went bust because of the housing bubble in 08 so now we have a bunch of unused homes on an Ex-unused base just sitting there while the locals scramble to find housing.

2 Vegetation burning. Every year the National Park (dis)Service burns vegetation that naturally tries to take root along the road in Rodanthe (where you just saw a home fall into the water). They allegedly do this for the birds, but in reality it is to create disaster because it is profitable for the land owners across the bridge and the construction profiteering particularly in the NC state senate that loves to replace the road every few years.

3 The Dunes. The CCC built dunes where they ought not to be which adds to wind erosion of the beach and increases erosion where the dunes stop as water takes the path of least resistance.

4 Dredging. This might be the biggest one.

They claim to be helping the commercial fishermen on Wancheese (Southern part of Roanoke Island) But everyone knows they dredge an inlet for the Pirates Cove Maria AKA the Pirates Cove Millionaires. They correctly named that pirates. These people often do not even live there year round but they all have fancy boats that they might use twice a year.

These people do not care if the dredging causes erosion to Rodanthe.

This is happening because they keep dredging the inlet for the pirates cove millionaires. They have a marina full of Yankee transplants each with a boat they use maybe twice a year, but they want that shortcut.

These people

Get their Oregon Inlet shortcut preserves at the expense of

these people, who no longer can afford to live where they were born.

Let’s contrast shall we

Locals

vs

Yankees

A major problem is that Dare County Commission has 6 representatives and 5 of those 6 all live North of the Bridge. The chairmen owns hotels north of the bridge. You may have seen me light into them.

Fortunately there was a copy of that because they erased my own YouTube with 81,000 followers and 16 million views. More here
