Japanese police have the most humane yet way to subdue crooks and drunks. They wrap them up in a futon like a burrito. No hitting. No taser. No pepper spray. They just greatly put number then and wrap them up Spider-Man style. However in this culture the shame of being treated like a baby is a huge punishment. They’d rather be beaten up. It is safe but very embarrassing to be wrapped up and helpless/harmless as if you were a child. It’s more of a deterrent than simply night sticking them down, which is actually easier to do. In Japan shame is sometimes worse than death. So don’t assume these guys are getting off lightly. A tough guy mouthing off and then being wrapped up into a harmless sandwich is humiliating. The power shift turns them into a joke. They can never visit and harass the same area again. Once a person has shown weakness then they are an outcast. This is society here. It’s the opposite of the US culture where being the victim actually awards you status. It is also why I believe Japanese go a long with the down playing of the number killed by the atomic bombings. They don’t want larger numbers. They don’t want to be victims. To them it is shameful. I was talking to a guy about David Cole one time. He didn’t understand why Jewish people turned on him. 4 million dead instead of 6 million made Jews look stronger. Why would they want to look weaker? The more who survived the tougher they were. All I could say is well they don’t think of it that way.
