I think we need a FEMA/Hurricane section what do you think?

There is another hurricane headed to North Calolina tomorrow.
After the news dies down it will become a administration incopotence section.

what do yall think? or should we just cram it all in politics? As the group grows it is hard to read everything.

so new section, yes or no?

i said i don't know but as soon as i clicked submit i knew it was a YES dammit! lol

Yes, I think we should be a cabinet level position/agency, separate budget and funding, and have one FEMA core management team comprised of various subteams because the experts and physical resources are different for different situations. I'm sure we can think of more but this is a good start. I thnk I'm kidding about the last one. And I'm kidding about the names but you get the idea.... :)

FEHA Hurricane and tornado
FETA Terrorist attacks nonnuclear
FENA Nuclear attacks
FEFA Flood and Mudslides
FECA Conflagratons (fires)
FEEA Earthquakes and sinkholes
FEPA Planecrashes
FEDA Disease and pestilence
FEBA Biological and chemical
FERA Riot and revolution

I was born and mostly raised along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Alot of what I consider home has been forever changed by hurricane Katrina. If anyone would like to see pics of my hometown in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, as well as satellite arial views of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, I have a photo collection with subalbums at http://www.photobucket.com. Just search KatrinaCane. Some of the pics come with some pretty amazing stories. Time for class. Peace.

Personally, I think you should just make a FEMA section, to encompass all other forms of natural disaster, be it Hurricane, Tornado, Earthquake, Flooding (not caused by Hurricanes), Volcanos, Poison Monkeys, and the like.

isn't that what they do now? that's what i was struggling with (sowwy bout that ridiculous mess!) but then i looked at their website and it was about as clear as a mudslide. and i think i read somewhere that their mission is to do terrorist attacks, whatever that is.

i still maintain that the different disasters call for different responses but don't really know a lot about how they're organized now to speak to it.

so is what you're saying, Al, to separate the natural and unnatural sections of FEMA? with no common umbrella?

I think some people misunderstood what you were asking Ry.

I said no

I think we should do some Topic restructuring but I think that Hurricane Katrina (or administration incompatence) is a bit of Niche topic, much like Iran or 911. I don't mean to say they are unimportant but if they all have their own topic they may be neglected by the majority of the community. But as I said, I don't think we should just fold everything into Politics.

I have a few Ideas

But can anyone truly stop the Poison Monkeys, Al Creed?

No, I don't think it needs it's own forum. That's what the politics section is for.
planet over property
community over competition
well-being over wealth
cooperation over control

would it make more sense to leave politics for news and opinions about elected officials and have a government organzation category for FEMA, FBI, CIA, Fanny Mae, and the like?

the people have spoken.

The 911 section has its own place because of all the large videos in it. Also it is good for new people to be able to go straight to 911 and read about it. That's why it has its own place.

This board is getting a face lift tonight.
