What a strawman you know better than that Sam. We didn't attack Al Qaeda Sam. We invaded Afghanistan, the whole country collectively, and made regime change. And it sure as Hell wasn't for women's liberation. The only person hated more than the Americans in Afghanistan is Karzai. The Pashtun and Afghans were ignored and it became a play fight with the Taliban (these guys did a prison break in releasing more than 500 prisoners). The Taliban was put in power to begin with thanks to US and Pakistani support. They were still getting millions form the US as later as July 2001. Then they started negotiating for pipelines outside the approved list that was a no no. By the way genius, Al Qaeda and the Taliban are not synonymous. Nice try though.

Richard Blee allowed Al Qaeda to go at Tora Bora, whether that was on purpose or incompetence is up in the air because this is the same man who blocked FBI investigations into known Al Qaeda involved in the USS Cole bombing Al-midhar and Al-hazmi both 911 hijackers who lived openly with their real names in the US. Blee took over the operation at Tora Bora and Bin Laden left. You can't just collectively punish a country for what some faction hiding in it allegedly did. As for 911, if one is going by the official story, the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia (aka got their passports from the CIA station in Jetta) not Afghanistan. If someone in North Carolina murders people in Virginia do you just go bomb Raleigh? Do you honestly believe the bases in Afghanistan have nothing to do with Russia? Do you honestly believe the billions in illegal drug revenue which account for half the shadow economy in places like Azerbaijan and other key central Asian state crucial for the Westward pipelines has nothing to do with the war? Opium growing was illegal and banned not post invasion though. Al Qaeda is our own privateers.

The US wanted regime change and it wants perpetual war because it mean perpetual profit. It's not failing because it is administered poorly. Its failing on purpose. It's in their own policy papers that the desired goal is protracted small arms conflict indefinitely. Go read Oded Yinon.

Thanks for ignoring the Libby affair and Gorssman and the real threats to non-proliferation. I guess the problem is those guys don't look like how a terrorist is supposed to look like.
