State employee unions

Post by misanthropicskin » Thu Dec 15, 2005 4:47 pm

In Virginia, teachers are not allowed to Unionize, have strikes, et cetera. The Police and Fire departments in Virginia, however, do have unions. Which leads me to the logical conclusion: the government cares less for the safety of the citizens than it does about brainwashing children.

So.. the fact that they CAN unionize means that they care less about that particular industry? You think unions (in theory, at least) are a bad thing?
Render unto Cesar that which he has rendered unto you - hardship, imprisonment, torture, and eventual death. Fuck Cesar. Let him be hanged.

I think they think Unions are a bad thing. I think teachers should be able to unionize. No one dies if teachers strike; kids just dont get brainwashed. Of course, i doubt cops and fire can strike. but it's a whats good for the goose is good for the gander -- either all state employees should have the right to unionize, strike, et cetera, or none. That they refuse to let teachers unionize, and people like Bill Bolling run with oppossition to teacher unions as a proud point of their platform, there must be something up with that...

my father's mother was a teacher in ft lauderdale. they weren't allowed to unionize or anything. they had to have a strike one time, but couldn't. so every teacher in the school quit on the same day. they all got hired back under their terms, so it was as good as a strike.

my mother is a spanish teacher in high school in va now. they get kicked around and whatnot and have no recourse. too many of them are pussy bitches and would back out if they tried to subvert the no-strike crap, and it'd fail.
