Mo More IMF for Venezuela!

Post by Ry » Tue May 01, 2007 1:32 am

CARACAS, Venezuela — President Hugo Chavez announced Monday he would formally pull Venezuela out of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, a largely symbolic move since the nation has already canceled its debts to the lending institutions.

The leftist leader, who has long railed against the Washington-based lenders, said "we will no longer have to go to Washington, neither to the IMF nor the World Bank, not to anyone."

Chavez said he wanted to formalize Venezuela's exit from the IMF and World Bank "tonight and ask them to return what they owe us."

"We have a few bucks there," he said, referring to Venezuela's recent repayments of debts to the World Bank five years ahead of schedule, which saved the country US$8 million.

Venezuela paid off all its debts to the IMF shortly after Chavez first took office in 1999. The IMF closed its offices in Venezuela late last year

yea... already knew.
The amount of poverty and suffering required for the emergence of a Rockefeller, and the amount of depravity that the accumulation of a fortune of such magnitude entails, are left out of the picture, and it is not always possible to make the people in general see this. - Ernesto Che Guevara

I also read today that he recently nationalized the oil industry there. Didn't that cause the population to overthrow the government of another country about 60 years ago? Uhhh, nevermind.

its not that simple they already tried that in 2002 but it failed and now the people are more nationalist than ever, they have a militia like military reserve ready to come to action if something happens, they are more than a milion and still growing.

Well, whatever your feelings for Chavez may be (I know he's a commie and all) you gotta respect him for wresting Venezuela from those soulless bastards.

Call and say, when are there going to be hearing for the Sibel Edmonds case? I want it to be public and I want everyone to testify under oath.

That is all you have to say.

He's an idealistic socialist calling the system he wants to bring to Venezuela "socialism of the 21st century", not a soviet style communist.
This is a good thing - look at the achievements of the Cuban revolution, for example they're the world's no.1 exporter of doctors! lol

Well, at this rate, the man might give me a more positive perspective on socialism (and all large-scale social arrangements) in general.

Thanks, Freedom Fighter.
