Hey - just a personal loony side track/ comment & brief question.

What do you know about these candidates from the World Socialist / Socialist Equality, etc Party (aside from the obvious)?

Are you feeling that they may have any chance in hell? or ?

Cuz I remember them from the '04 US Pres. "election" and I think I've met this guy around Cuba issues some years back.
At best they seem all over the place and their org. is full of different variations / usage of the term Socialist _________ something.

Im just curious as to where you might be with them (since they're listed and out there) ?

I suppose im wondering if you find the group as weird as I do?

I think that these socialists are alright. I like how they are against the war, andfor better conditions for workers and some stuff like that. They do some good reporting and also understand how almost all Repubs. and Dems. are pretty much the same on all of the major issues. However, they don't have a chance at all. They are just trying to build their party and the idea of a socialist revolution, which is a lost cause. Why? Because the idea that capitalism is the root of what's wrong with America is a mis-diagnosis of our problems.

Bill Van Auken is a good guy, and he had some very good articles about the Israel/ Arab conflict (though him and almost all socialists don't understand the power of lobbies like AIPAC), but a vote for him would be a wasted vote, especially when there are two really good antiwar candidates running in the same election (Tasini and Hawkins) who also have better solutions for other issues.

Bowman, in my opinion, is not that bright. I know he headed the star wars program bla bla whatever I heard him speak he's not that stellar, and he would fall for loose change. However he IS against the occupation and the war and Ill vote for ANYONE against the Israeli occupation and the war.

Bowman seems like a smart guy to me. I haven't heard him speak, but his take on the issues seemed very rational. It's sucks that his district is the one that is right to the east of mine, and the Republican in my district is running unopposed.

Oh for a politicians he is smart. But I have heard him talk and he is not so bright. He's not dumb, but I dont think he is any smarter than I am, hardly what I exspected from the head of the starwars program. Maybe he just knows a lot of math or something. He has a bit of a religious streak in him and I dont agree with him on abortion and so on but I dont care, THE most important issues are the war and the support for Israel and he is against both so If I lived in Florida I'd vote for him.

I think many are riding on the ticket of anti-war, because that's what the majority of "we the people" are. When, IF, they get into office- BIG money gets passed around and campaign promises disappear.
