No one is talking about the Israeli elections

Post by Rio » Tue Feb 10, 2009 12:53 pm

It seems like no one is talking about the Israeli elections at all. Why?

I wondered about this too. But then I realized that either side winning would not make a great difference for the Palestinians.
"Democracy cannot survive overpopulation. Human dignity cannot survive it. Convenience and decency cannot survive it. As you put more and more people into the world, the value of life not only declines, it disappears. It doesn't matter if someone dies. The more people there are, the less one individual matters." ~ Isaac Asimov

israeli arabs on election day have these choices "do you want this oppressive, bloodthirsty, anti-palestinian, land grabbing thief; or do you want the other oppressive, bloodthirsty, anti-palestinian land grabbing thief; or perhaps you would prefer the this oppressive, bloodthirsty, anti-palestinian, land grabbing thief or alternatively do you want the moldoven immigrant who is an oppressive, bloodthirsty, anti-palestinian, land grabbing thief.

- end of discussion

israelis argue over the most pettiest things, but when it comes to killing palestinians most of them are united.

That's seems to be about right. I've followed the parties a bit but not being an Isreali national there's a lot of nuances that can be missed.

I'm more surprised that Americans, most of them being rabid supporters of Israel, have no interest in the Israeli election compared to how closely the Israelis followed our elections.

I'm hoping that we've come to the point where world opinion no longer gives Israel a carte blanche, including here in the U.S. I think that although it's been too slow there is a greater awareness of the violence, corruption and double standards applied and perpetrated by Israel. And since the mood in Israel appears to be as arrogant and aggressive as ever that they will continue to shoot their own self in the foot by persisting to boldly reveal their ugliness and gross lack of morality. Unless they can contain themselves, and as clever and sly as they try to be I don't think they can, this spotlight which is glaring brightly over them won't be going out anytime soon.
