Pelosi's Straight Record on Israel

Post by Jenifer » Sun Nov 12, 2006 2:42 pm

the
minority leader's attack on [President] Carter [for
writing a book
mentioning Israeli apartheid] is in line with what
they describe as a
straight-A record on Israel... On matters concerning
the Jewish state
Nancy
Pelosi is as mainstream as they get, sticking to a
pro-Israeli line
ever
since she entered Congress... AIPAC [the pro-Israel
lobby group]
includes a
laudatory quote from Pelosi on its website. Leader
Pelosi has a perfect
record of support for the U.S.-Israel relationship and
has demonstrated
leadership on a host of our issues, spokeswoman
Jennifer Cannata
said..."
The Forward, (one of the oldest and most successful
establishment
Jewish
publications in America).

“There will be some Democratic chairmen who may not
share all my views
or
have as clear a perspective on Israel as I do, But
they will not be
chairing
committees dealing with Israel and the Middle East."
Rep. Henry Waxman
(D-California) in an on-line chat with Zionist
supporters, sponsored by
the
House Democratic caucus.

Can we work to expose the lies (and expose the
attempts to silence
Jewish
anti-Zionist voices)? Can we work to prevent Zionists
from pushing for
more
wars that are contrary to US (and Israeli and
Palestinian) public
interest,
from justifying more human rights violations, and from
advocating more
torture and destruction using our tax money? Can we
learn from history
that
social movements for peace and justice happen by grass
root movements
BETWEEN elections and not at the polling booth? (see
for example the
civil
rights movement, the right of women to vote, ending
support for
apartheid
South Africa, ending the war on Vietnam etc). So call
your elected
officials
and ask for meetings on behalf of your local group and
if you do not
have a
local group build it. Speak truth to power and if they
do not listen,
demonstrate at their offices often and write to the
media.

After the alert we posted, 19 civilians were massacred
in Gaza, most
women
and children including 17 members of the same family.
Amnesty
International
"called for an immediate, independent investigation
and for those
responsible to be held accountable ... previous
Israeli investigations,
such
as that carried out into the killings of a Palestinian
family on a
beach in
the Gaza Strip last June, had been seriously
inadequate and failed to
meet
international standards for such investigations, which
must be
independent,
impartial and thorough."

Pesoli, AIPAC, and Google

As of 11/12/06, a search of AIPAC's website for mention of Nancy Pelosi yields about 20+ results. Oddly, none of these pages are available anymore. AIPAC's website gives a "Oops! We're sorry, but we are unable to find the page you were looking for." Grab the Google caches of these pages while you can. They're soon to be gone.
