galileo's middle finger on display in Florence

I found this odd but interesting. Galileo was buried with his family because the church would not allow it. They had a change of heart, dug him up and reburied him. Only his fingers and a tooth were stolen. Long story short the middle finger was recovered and is in a egg shaped shrine.
