The impunity of Science is allowing Political mayham

Let's talk about vaccines, GMO, Globalwarming, and Fukushima, these are hot button issues. The problem is that people get so turned off by the alarmist or are so entrenched on whatever side they perceive is scientific that's other nonscientific aspects of the problems are lost.

Alarmist are often lacking science but science-philes, in reaction to alarmist, are dismissing other political and economic issues with the subject matters because they assume the only alternatives to their views are the widely spoken nonsense from jonestown. Politics pollutes science. And sensationalism pollutes the ability to argue about the pollution of science because they drag everything into crazyville.

Vaccines...The problem is the faulty dichotomy of science vs unscientific idiots. Because of the koo-koo unscientific paranoid crowd dissing vaccinations as poison, the pro-science crowd then dismisses all other possible reasons for over vaccination including political and economic reasons that have nothing to do with the science of vaccines but rather the profit motives of the medical industry. It's not about vaccines working or not. It's about how many are actually necessary. Everyone is going to take them all "just in case" because no one will gamble with their health. Such a market situation is ripe for exploiting fear and making extra money.

That different first world countries have different numbers of mandatory shots but not death rates shows that there is nothing kooky about questioning how many among the clearly necessary shots might not be so vital and are there more for financial reasons than health. They really did have mercury in vaccines at one point that clearly was a mistake as we all know now how harmful mercury is. They don't have it anymore but look at how long they tried to defend it before they quietly quit using it just to avoid a massive class action lawsuit. Money is always king not your health. You are a product to them, they don't really care about you.

Not everyone who opposes taking every shot there is, is some weirdo you thinks they don't work or that they are harmful. Some people just see that things like H1M1 were largely sold on highly exaggerated scare tactics and can look at history to see how every couple of years there is a new fad where drug and medical industries with the media totally over hype some threat so that they can better peddle their wares. Fear sells, thus SARS, West Nile, Mad Cow, Bird Flu, Pig flu, H1M1, ...what's next? These things had major impacts on the price of beef, poultry, travel/tourism and so on. Ultra protectionist Japan for example basically use the mad cow scare to cut off beef imports from the US entirely.

Take your vaccines, don't take all the flu shots that change every three years you don't need them.

"Not only that, Beyer shot up thousands of European kids with HIV to save some money. If you trust big pharma, you are an idiot. But the truth is, vaccines could make sense if the FDA still provided ANY oversight or testing at all"-Rhy Thornton

"There is a similar dichotomy with the GMO debate. Monsanto makes some, basically evil shit that just absorbs there other products and makes horrible farming practice, but, this is not every GMO created. Also, GMO has a different definition depending on what side you fall on. both sides tend to write off a whole lot of "in the middle" observations." -Colby Riggle

Right some GMO are perfectly fine, then again is it necessary to have growth hormones in the the milk? And is it ethical to pump animals up with much of what is being done to them? Are some of the GMO crops really cost efficient? These kind of questions can't be asked because any opposition or questions about GMO will be tossed into the you must be a paranoid kook crowd. Unfortunately I don't think we can ever be heard over the very loud fear-monger crowd.

The same kind of dichotomy is set up around climate change/global warming where again outside of the scientific side of it, the political side of it and supposed solutions have done nothing but hijack something scary in order to enrich certain industries and create tighter monopolies around distribution of both agricultural and energy products. Worst of all the related laws do not actually even reduce greenhouse gasses. They just play around with allotments. The political and economic side of the issue can not get addressed so long as people smugly cling to science and environmentalism with a profound lack of history and political awareness. On top of that even the science side of global warming is greatly exaggerated and some of it is flat out wrong again because the statistics scientist had to work with were government numbers which like the unemployment rates, inflation, GDP, and CPI rates are all distorted nonsense for Political reasons and that is a fact.

Arguments of authority do not work here. It is very clear that, for example, inflation in the US is not only 1% and that the unemployment rate is not 6.5%~7% and all you have to do is look at how they are using U3 and U6 numbers to come up with those figures and if you know how the U3 numbers are gathered then you realize that it is not a reflection of how many people are not working. Its statistical game playing over a pubic which doesn't have much knowledge about it and a press that refuses to report on anything that's not sensational. Do you really think the UN's UCCI numbers which were then taken and ran with with by church of climatology are any different? Of course they get certain results that's what happens when you control the data at the spigot.

Fukushima is another issue that has the same problems as all of the above. The alarmist kooks go all over the web telling people that clouds of radiation are hitting California, that the star fish are dying, that Japan is a wasteland etc. It's bull. The wave charts from the 2011 tsunami were wrongly labeled a radiation chart and that became a facebook meme which is unfortunately the level of political discourse nowadays. Starfish were indeed dying from something but that started in 2008 years before the quake. There was on viral video of some tool in California standing on top of black thorium who wondered why he was getting some radiation readings. As he walked towards the water they went down immediately and as he stood back on top of the thorium black sand they went up again. Debunking this however never got the attention that spreading the fear got because that seems to be the nature of news. This has really effected the tourism in Japan from the US anyway not so much from other places. However all of that said, there is plenty of political corruption involved with Fukushima and an enormous amount of spending waste from the government who used the crisis as an opportunity for unmitigated pork projects. The fear also cripple the nuclear energy industry in Japan which has had real effects on electricity prices as well as a global impact on trade since Japan imports 98% of its fossil fuels. It made the sanctions on Iran all that much more ridiculous. But we cannot get to these issues because, we get stuck arguing the scientific points to the dogmatic alarmist. And so the political shenanigans go unnoticed.

Alternative media is guilty as well because they pump up the fear based sensationalism since it sells. They are as guilty of that as main stream media who screamed about mushroom clouds and WMDs. The problem is at the present time alternative media that sticks to the calm facts really isn't viable. I know from doing it for 13 years and now having to ask people for donations that you just can't really make it without great struggle unless you sell out to fear-porn.

Help change that. Consider donating on the button at the top of the page.

Vaccines, GMO, Global Warming, Fukushima
You get two extreme camps between the alarmist and the nothing to see here types who both rant with their fingers in their ears. One side ignorant of science the other ignorant of politics.
