Haven't seen it but I might.
Saw Superman. Interesting way of telling a story with parallels to the story of jesus christ. I liked the indie/handcam way of shooting scenes refreshing (lots of bokeh, works very well). Also how the villain is bound to who he is comes of as totally natural. You need to have seen all prior superman movies to appreciate (more) of what story fits in where. Nice.
Saw Pacific Rim. Kinda like Armageddon. Original story (to westerners anyway), sometimes incrredible action an very scary monsters. I won't call it fluff/"straight to dvd" because some stuff is really original. Same as with Armageddon, very entertaining but not as over the top.

These are the movies i recommend. Some are sweet, some are violent, some are a spiralling road down to hell wishing you had never saw even one moviestill.
As you once requested, phys.

Sympathy for lady vengeance (Korean). Brilliant. Seriously.
I saw the devil (korean). You have been warned.
A bittersweet life (korean). Brilliant. Violent.
13 assasins (Japanese). Again, brilliant. I advise you to read up on japanese chivalry. (I forgot the japanese word)
Tampopo (Japanese). A classic. Funfilled and lighthearted...to westerners. For japanese it's a social commentary.
Ashura jo no hitomi (japanese). The lead player is one of japans top kabuki players.
Beautifull Creatures (Hollywood). Although you'll think you see some popular elements (harry potter, twilight saga) it's original and the lead actors are likeable. It's good.
Happy Times (Chinese?). Funny. Good acting. Sweet and sour humor. Good.
Fallen Angels (taiwan?). Original way of shooting pictures. Very good.
Hara-kiri, death of a samurai (japanese). Very good remake.
Inception (Hollywood). The question; did it or did it not stop swirling. Very good.
Jiro dreams of sushi (japanese documentary). Because sometimes, I dream of sushi.
Eva (spanish). Sci-fi, with a twist.
Drive (Hollywood). Brilliant.
Le graine et le mulet (French). Just sit and watch. Don't ask yourself any questions during the movie. Slice of life.
La piel que habito (spanish). Very good. One of my favorite spanish actrices. My god, I just love watching her.
Maiko Haaan (japanese). japanese humour done good. Very funny. (hilarious for outsiders)
Megane (japanese). A movie for a slow warm summer sunday. Good.
Mulholland drive (Hollywood). David Lynch as director. Just watch. Very good.
Oldboy (korean). Very good.
The mist (hollywood). Good movie. Underrated.
L'ennemy public part1 and 2 (french). Very good. Violent.
Tropa de elite 1 and 2 (brazillian). Very good. Violent.

and lots more but this is it for now.

I will check out the list and I dont mind reading subtitles. I have a whole collection of silent movies

Movies I want to add to my collection or movies I want to leave behind as an expression of 'myself'.
I enjoyed Elysium and would recommend seeing it (in the theatre), but Im not going to buy it.
- the adventures of prince achmed by lotte reiniger
- what dreams may come
- pan's labyrinth
lots more..
My niece and nephew got me into Hunger Games. The books are way better than the movie but the movie was awesome as well and one I bought. I will be at the opening of Catching Fire without a doubt. Read the books though.

"The Thieves" korean movie is worth watching. Are you into murder-mystery or foreign films, Phys? Try "The Neighbors" korean film.

I like the hunger games. Especially because the casting is good, good acting, odd atmosphere.

If you are into War movies, then "The Brotherhood of War" (Tae Guk Ki) is a good one, and "My Way" is really good too. The second one is about a Japanese and Korean officer who ended up fighting in china, then get imprisoned by the Soviets and sent to a labor camp in Siberia, and later sent as reinforcements to fight in Europe, and ended up caught and fighting for the Nazis. Its partially based on a true story, in that they really did find Koreans and Japanese fighting with the German forces.

We watched "Olympus has Fallen" last night. It was a very entertaining movie. Action the entire time and cool effects. I actually felt patriotic after this movie which is a new feeling for myself. :flag:

It's just a movie though, and I'm only loyal to all humanity not a pretend country with made-up boundaries.

Hmmm I noticed this came up at the end credits of Star Trek 2013

'THIS FILM IS DEDICATED TO OUR POST-9/11 VETERANS WITH GRATITUDE FOR THEIR INSPIRED SERVICE ABROAD AND CONTINUED LEADERSHIP AT HOME'

I tried to get a screenshot but for some reason it failed :(
Im just thinking to myself.. what the...
& Im so glad I didnt pay to watch that.

BTW I found 'White House down' better than 'Olympus has fallen'
