best way to learn a new language

Post by exquisite » Fri Aug 05, 2011 10:37 am

what is the best way to learn a new language quickly and efficiently?

I recently came across this company and its sounds quite good.
http://www.rosettastone.co.uk/ngt8?pc=n ... 4QodwXJH6Q" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

has anyone tried the method?

how much does a one-to-one tutor cost (in england) and does anyone have a list of them for yorkshire.

the only way is with a person or people and to practice shamelessly as much as you can.

Rosetta stone works pretty good apparently. I never get really far in it because I'm lazy as hell but I know people that have had success with it.

Basically it shows you pictures and plays sounds. There's no translation between your native language into the one you're learning. That's pretty nice.

If you can't get a native speaker, or you are opposed to signing up for language lessons somewhere, you will probably get something out of Rosetta stone.

Just talk and laugh about your mistakes and make it a game "to win" a cohesive and good sentence. Even better; find a job which requires you to speak that language and study it on the side. That's what my wife did but she's kind of special in many ways. I've never seen her let go of anything she sinks her teeth in. Ever.

huh? *confused*

how can you learn a language like that??

so it doesn't do any of this:

book = kitab
chair = kursi
moon = chand
nose = nak
anger = gussa

^^^^^^^^^^^

rosetta stone claims to teach you the following:
Age, family relations, household items
Questions, greetings, introductions
Times of day, calendar terms, the weather
Directions, locations, telling time
Present, past and future tense
Apologies and polite requests
How to order at a restaurant and give and receive directions
Emotions, opinions and ideas
Political, media, business and religious terms
surely its not possible to teach those things in pictures?

a lot of people who claim to speak another language can't really do much other than intros, ask for something to eat or drink, ask where or what something is and name a bunch of objects. Basically any kind of studying even school will get you to that point.

there is no substitute for books andnote card and good old fashion studying. Unless you can have a native speaker but even then if you haven't already done the note cards you will have nothing to say. There is no easy way to learn a new language.

licuadora

licuadora

that is how. lol

It absolutely does not give you a chart of english words to foreign words. But for age it will show you like a picture of a boy and tell you what boy is, a picture of a man, a picture of an old man, and tell you what those words are. So you're learning the words for boy, man, and old man.

But it also doesn't just teach it like that with one simple concept at a time. Instead it will teach you multiple things at once, and mix things around. So you'll do like a picture of a boy drinking and a girl drinking. Then it will like include those pictures with a picture of a woman eating and a man reading a book or something like that.

Go try the free intro course they have at the website. Last time I went it was turkish. You'll see how it works.
