FBI Alleged To Have Backdoored OpenBSD's IPSEC Stack

Post by mynis » Wed Dec 15, 2010 4:35 am

What this means in plain English: A very commonly used security protocol in a very commonly used software for hosting web pages and several other things had a means for the FBI to compromise it build in without the designer's consent. A lot of the code for this security protocol has been built into other software, meaning that pretty much everything you've done or said on the Internet, passwords, financial info, etc. is stored in a database somewhere that the FBI can easily access.

"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us 'universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -Einstein
