This could be extremely important, what do you think?

I know that cross-posting is perhaps not good netiquette, but there's been no reponse to a couple of mentions of this I put in the media threads recently. For the last ten years I have been thinking about the state of the world and how to fix it. I researched and wrote a book, then condensed and modified it into an essay, then summarised that etc. (summarized, US sp.)

Finally, further influenced and informed by you guys on this excellent forum (I'm so pleased I found it!), and by Ry's great book

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/bookse ... 3845&itm=1

, I have come up with this idea as the first step in a strategic campaign to bring down the neocons and their allies:

http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Rericswan/cam ... instr.html

(Try reloading if it doesn't work at first.)

It's simple, it's fun and I dare to hope that it might work. I've had an enthusiastic response from a couple of people. A UK-based _journalist_ told me that he knew about Fox News' propaganda but had no idea about Murdoch's tax-dodging!

In a way this is depressing, but it's also good news, because it means that the status quo (i.e. the present situation with the neocons in power) could be changed if people are amazed and shocked when they do learn the truth about what these guys are doing! This campaign is a way of reaching the masses.

Feel free to modify the idea, but I advise against adding too much disturbing information as, true as it may be, if people are confronted with too much new and shocking stuff at once they may be inclined to reject it. What is old familiar news to us is very difficult for some to take on, so we must go gently at first and get them thinking for themselves with just enough information to open their eyes. We are fighting for the wellbeing of humanity and also the planet but I think it's a mistake to rush in without thinking carefully about strategy and the psychology of how people change their minds.

After Murdoch, I suggest ExxonMobil, then possibly Walmart (which also owns the massive UK supermarket chain, Asda).

Expose the crooks!

Y'all, this is good childish fun, and extremely important!

No one has responded so I am taking the best view of it that the link may not always load well. I'm posting the email below, but please realise [realize, US sp.] that the formatting will be lost to some extent so I have put a note in about which bit looks best if it is centred [centered, US sp.].

I would be grateful for your opinions on this, and even more grateful if you'd send it on!

I believe it's extremely important to have a long-term strategy rather than merely respond to events, much as those events do demand a response. We need to tackle the media first, but we can't tackle them all at once. (Incidentally the BBC has recently been quite biased on Israel's actions: http://www.antiwar.com/orig/cook.php?articleid=9333)

Dear Anti-Neocons

I know you are busy. This won't take more than about two minutes. I think you will understand its importance. I'd be grateful if you'd read this and follow the instructions if you agree with it.

Thank you very much!

Sincere regards

Eric-the-Read

1. The important part: what do you think of this?

a) Democracy in the UK and USA is threatened by one man, Rupert Murdoch, a former Australian and now US citizen, who controls much of our media (see bottom of this email), including The Sun in the UK, and Fox News in the USA.

b) He is the world's most expert tax dodger; he pays almost no tax anywhere, yet he is one of the wealthiest men in the world! How much tax do you pay? Murdoch's tax evasion means less money to pay for police, health, education and social security.

c) His media played a large part in convincing people of the case for invading Iraq (for example, people who viewed Fox News were far more likely to believe that Saddam Hussein was linked to 9/11), and his coverage of Israel's actions in Lebanon is also distorted. It seems fair to call him a liar with blood on his hands. Some would say that he has helped promote terrorism.

d) Evidence suggests that he bribed Bush and Blair (by supporting their election campaigns and promising them money) so that they did not pass laws to prevent him owning a huge share of the media, and also so that they would not close tax loopholes so that he (like other super-rich people) can continue to avoid paying the countless millions of dollars and pounds he should pay. It is said that he has promised Blair a £3.5 million advance for his biography, far more than the book will earn in royalties. Major and Thatcher got similar deals.

e) His media, such as The Sun and Fox News blame society's problems on the poor, weak and powerless, such as immigrants, asylum seekers, the homeless etc. (The English version of The Sun has even attacked the Scots: http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/story/ ... 74,00.html )

(Incidentally, his media also distract people from what is really happening - including what he is doing - by substituting trivia and titillation for real news.)

f) If you think this is wrong then follow the simple instructions in Part 3 once you've had fun!

2. The childish fun part!

Now go here and give him a good beating: http://www.urban75.com/Punch/murdoch.html

Give it a while to load, and then click on his face with your mouse. It's more fun if you turn the sound up! (If this doesn't work it's probably because too many of us are having a go - a sign that we are getting somewhere!)

3. And now, please...

a) Copy this email and paste it into a fresh email window on your computer.

b) Copy the Subject of this email and paste it into the Subject bar.

c) Where your name appears (after "Dear" at the top and in the Subject) put the name of one of your friends, one who is likely to read this and send it on.

d) Change the closure greeting as you prefer (Best wishes/Yours sincerely/Love/Warm regards etc....) and write your name where mine was.

e) Enter your friend's email address in the appropriate place and send it!

f) Send it to one other person in a similar way.

g) Most important: do not buy The Sun, do not watch Fox News and tell your friends to do the same. That's all!

Please do not forward multiple copies as people are unlikely to read mass-forwarded emails and they will probably be blocked by spam filters anyway.

Of course if you want to send more individual emails, please do, but if everyone sends it to even just two people then eight steps down the line we will generate 256 emails, and sixteen steps down the line an amazing 65,536 emails: people power!

Expose the crooks and restore democracy!
