I am all for pro-choice. The way I see it, the greatest cause of global warming, habitat destruction, and species extinction is human overpopulation. And I am not too fond of guns myself. Otherwise, I suppose she is Satan.

I am pro-choice its a non-issue for president though since it is a judicial issue and even with Pro-life Bush in full control the decision is not going to change because they make too much money from it. And human over population is not a problem. The problems with the environment come from amoral corporations poisoning the food water and air.

Japan is a great example. They half half the US's population (3rd largest in the world) crammed in the space the size of Montana. Yet they have the lowest crime rate of any industrialized nation, the highest life expectancy, they highest education all around and the highest in science second in math. People live freely and there is a 90% middle class.
Yet Tokyo is the largest city in the world with the highest population density as well. 10% of Japan lives in that one city of 35 million people. And Japan has nearly no natural resources they trade for it all. And still the majority of Japan is undeveloped land of forests and mountains. They have mass transit wind power nuclear power and very economic compacted everything.
Compare that to really anywhere with the same population. The problem is not people its government. Japan is proof that things can be done another way.

Very true, only thing I would add is: its not just the govt it is the people. The people have a great sense of duty to each other. Honor and shame are biggies there. There is zero belief in god be it Buddhist, atheist or Shinto so they hold to humanity. When humanity is all you have, you tend to value it more. imoRy wrote:Japan is a great example. Well Japan has religions and a culture that respects the environment the rest of a west has a religion that says to rule over it and its all going to be destroyed in the end anyway so it doesn't matter.
Point is the earth can sustain the life of many many more people. The biggest polluters are the idiots making DU, dumping waste into the ocean, burning coal to make ethanol testing nuclear bombs, etc. China is a problem not because of all the people but because of all the companies with zero environmental standards.
