It has been stated by this site that we should end the War on Drugs.

What do you believe this means?

I believe this means that drugs should be legalized.

The war on drugs is more like a war on minorities. Drug crimes are shamelessly prejudice to the poor and the punishment does not fit the crime. Drug addictions are just that addictions. Now if you are drunk or on cocain and hit someone then you should go to jail for the assult but the drug itself is not a crime. Marijuana has dual uses as a recreational drug, medicine and the plant itself has a multitude of uses. The reason many drugs that are illegal are illegal is because they would replace other industries like timber and pharmaceuticals as better options.

The illegality of drugs makes them profitable and the sale of illegal drugs it what allows rebel groups the money to buy illegal weapons. The UK and US have always used drug money to finance warfare, from the Opium wars of old to the current heroin crescent of today it still goes on.

Legalizing drugs and sending people to treatment rather than to jail for addictions is a more sound philosophy. And the libertarian view is that there are no victimless crimes. A person gets to choose if they want to be a rocket sci entice or just work in fast food or whatever. If you want to smoke up everyday then go for it.

it would be too risky to do something like that.

its safer just to borrow from the banks.
