But I do brother. I don't engage unless I am attacked, or if I see someone being a bully.
Im sorry if i came on strong. Honestly I am. I understand your and sayanim's anger at the poster...i dont share the sentiment, but i do understand it. Again, you have my sincerest apologies. But if you quote Krishna how can you insult in such a way that you do?

eh I been fighitng my whole life. I agree with Bruce Lee Kung-fu etc are to armchair and not realistic. There is nothing secretive or mystical about it. You just get faster and stronger wittier and practice it all the time just like any sport.
I mean everyone knows all the moves in Basketball after one season. Everyone can shoot dribble pass block ect. Its just who can do it faster and more accurately. and that would be the people who do it everyday. Being tall and male helps too.

I agree 100%. Im sure you already know this Ry, but many people do not know that Bruce condemed most fighting styles as dance, and did not recommend kicks about the waist. His Tao of Jeet Kune Do actually focuses ALOT on puching, and was where i first learned to through a boxers punch from my toes.
But I do believe in Qi, and accupuncture and accupressure. If you believe in Qi, then it is an easy jump to think it can be cultivated, and manipulated. Feng Shui is also based in the belief of Qi. Maybe this is where I get a little on the "fringe" list for this belief, but it is unshakable. I also understand the different types of Qi, and remember too well being jumped and beaten mercilessly by 4 guys while i was 20. I was hurt, but they didnt leave a mark...not one. The doctors were quite amazed (i was forced to the hospital by the police and ambulance). Feel free to flame me for this...lol. I dont mind.

This thread has been so hijacked.
I train Wing Chun, which is basically the foundation of everything Bruce Lee wrote. Worse that saying most fight styles were dance, he said they were bullshit. He said 95% of the stuff in China was bullshit and all of it in the US was bullshit.
My sifu came from hong kong and his sigung (sifu's sifu) is the same guy that taught Yip Man. Yip man being Bruce Lee's sifu.
We don't do qi gong. Neither did Bruce Lee. I don't really see the point. We talk about energy but we don't imagine it. We know what is going on. It's technique, structure, strength, and skill. Not an undetectable energy that must be aligned with your breathing, manifested, or conjured, etc. I think part of the reason we don't just sit around breathing with our moves is because you don't have a chance to sit there and meditate in a fight. Everything we do in training is combat oriented. We don't train anything that is designed to hold you back in battle or that could make it easier on our target.

you defended a racist/bigot not some little kid being bullied in a playground - you allowed your ego to decide what was right without understanding the facts. Or if you did understand the facts you still put someone's right to offend ahead of the right of others to be offended.Saint wrote:But I do brother. back to thread...
I knew my views of Qi put me on the fringe. I should clarify. I do not belive in Qi attacks, as such that they extend from the body. All science agrees there is energy that passes through our nervous system. Watches run on this energy these days. The energy is there no doubt. Kinetic energy is what most western scientists call it. I do believe however that you can attack someone elses nervous system and damage organs, cause organ failure, and death. China na has 4 systems. Dividing the muscle, misplacing the bone, sealing the breath, and cavity press. Cavity press is also known to some as Dim Mak. This is the highest for of china na, which attacks the same points used in accupuncture...to possibly fatal results. I agree with everyone on many many points though, and am VERY happy to hear so many practice martial arts here. It is great news. I am pushing my wife to study Wing Chun (the only art developed by a female) and my son to Aikido (since most Aikido schools here practice against multiple attackers...the "suicide Circle"). I do believe i was not injured in the attack by 4 because I constantly regulate the flow of Qi through my nerves. A healthy system is harder to damage. But I digress...i was so pleasently suprised by the last few posts (not facelesses) that I am exstatic to find we all have this in common!! cheers! And im not so sure it has been hijacked...we are giving our backgrounds, i think everyone who studies would agree that violence is not only bad, but the last resort.
