Im still more mad about the cop shooting a sleeping 7 year old girl as they broke into the wrong house trying to film a reality show and then he was put on paid leave. By the way she was black too. Where is the outrage?

Holy crap I didn't know that they were filming a reality show when that happened. So what, if it had been the right house and they went in killed someone they would have shown that on television?

Al Sharpton is a joke.

both cases are upsetting, the reason this is getting so much press is the govt wants to put in question the "stand your ground law". another attack on gun owners. "stand your ground" isn't even applicable in this case.

the little girl killed by the cop would result in restrictions on govt so no press
if that story got the press this one got, i bet there would be outrage

Exactly. Either way, black or white, in the end the one who gets shafted the hardest is you (in general).

One more thing on Martin. Why didn't he simply run away? He's an athletic football player and Zimmerman is a fat, out of shape dude. He would have gotten away easily. Zimmerman indicated on his call to the police that he had lost him. Did Martin come back to engage Zimmerman? Did he blindside him and take him down? If so, Martin would then become the aggressor and the "stand your ground" law would go in favor of Zimmerman.

They both seem to have acted rather stupidly.

Zimmerman provoked him, knowing that he himself had a gun, and Trayvon engaged in an altercation with him, thinking that he didn't. While both acted rather stupidly, Trayvon was a teenager, so he has an excuse for his stupidity, while Zimmerman, an adult in his late 20s, does not.

Being 17 doesn't give him the right to come back and attack Zimmerman if he had already gotten away. That's just macho, tough guy BS that can get you killed. And at that point, I lose sympathy.

It isn't about what gives him the right to do what, because at the end of the day he was still an unarmed 17 year old. Also, that macho, tough guy BS was what Zimmerman was doing as well since he ignored the rules as well as instructions, which while on duty, he should have abided by.

Furthermore, we only have Zimmerman's account of how it all went down, and so there was no objective observer to see how the fight started. I personally doubt that Martin was entirely the aggressor, as it seems much more likely, that the confrontation initially turned physical with Zimmerman, likely with grabbing or pushing, and it just escalated from there.

You're guess is as good as mine because there are missing gaps in the evidence here. But, at the end of the day, you can't send a guy to jail for what you think happened, only for what you can prove beyond a reasonable doubt.
