Gary Franchi - Chicago, IL 4-20-06 One of our Loyal Lone Lanterns has just informed us that the National Guard will be doing a training assignment in Chicago. This field exercise will be to simulate a chemical attack, whereby the National Guard will coordinate with local police, fire depts, and hospitals. One of the hospitals participating will be Rush.
1) Exercise starts as a response to a pandemic spreading throughout Chicago. It could be anything from a terrorist attack to bird flu. Nobody knows.
2) As the different groups are responding to this pandemic, there is a dirty bomb attack which releases a chemical agent.
3) If all of that is not enough, the dirty bomb collapses a building.
We do not have an exact location where this is happening, the National Guard doesn't even know. It is supposed to simulate a real life situation so, nobody knows until it starts.
It will be May 2-4.
Considering that "drills" were taking place the morning of 9/11 and 7/7 there is always the remote possibility that this is cover for another "inside job". We pray to God that it is not.

Sears Tower 666 scenario

The reason the internet community brought me the email/article news you have confirmed is that I've been working on the prospects of a 911-style attack on Chicago for over a month now. Will the "Chicago 911" Exercises "go live?"

The exercise you are conducting may "go live" and result in tens of thousands of civilian casualties. Whatever you are preparing for as a casualty count should be taken as the best indicator of the level of mass murder actually being anticipated. It needs to be enough to rally the country behind Bush, and that means plenty of dead folks, at this point.

Texas City Nuclear 911 Inquest

The same thing now in danger of happening in Chicago almost happened in Texas City on January 31, 2006. My intelligence unit, Ghost Troop, and I were heavily engaged in late January in a national/international public affairs campaign to alert the area, specifically warning of the prospect of a 1/31 nuke attack being set up against the city.

Our work was confirmed in an article in the Galveston County Daily News on Feb. 2, 2006, which reported that national WMD-CRT "day after" assets were present in the target area on the day after our Jan. 31, 2006 prediction, on Feb. 1, 2006. The public, made aware by our public affairs campaign to get the message out, were quite alarmed, but at least they weren't dead. Lloyd Goldman and Joseph Cayre, New York investors who are among Mr. Silverstein's backers in the Trade Center, are part of a group that agreed to buy the Chicago landmark, these people said. Another New York investor, Jeffrey Feil, was also a participant in the Sears Tower deal, the people said. Names of the other investors couldn't be learned.

MetLife announced the agreement Thursday, but declined to disclose the buyer or the terms, citing a confidentiality agreement. While the insurance company, based in New York, had previously announced its intention to sell the tower, the speed of the deal and the relatively high price caught the real-estate industry off-guard.

MetLife said it would realize an after-tax gain of $90 million on the deal.

Messrs. Goldman and Carye couldn't be reached. Attempts to reach Mr. Feil were unsuccessful. The names of the three investors were reported Thursday on the Slatin Report, a Web newsletter.

Mr. Goldman led a group including Mr. Cayre that put up most of the $125 million of the equity that Mr. Silverstein, a New York developer, used to buy the 99-year office lease on the Trade Center office portion from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The deal, valued at $3.2 billion, including the Trade Center's retail mall, closed in July 2001, weeks before the September terror attacks that destroyed the complex.

Last month, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Port Authority in December had quietly agreed to return all of the $125 million in equity that Mr. Silverstein and his low-profile group originally invested to buy the leases. The full details of that transaction haven't been released to the public. But the deal effectively eliminated the Silverstein group's capital risk in the project, while allowing the group to retain control of 10 million square feet of office space. That different light is particularly glaring when it comes to dollars and cents.
Trizec in its third quarter wrote down $48.3 million of the $70 million it invested in the Sears Tower in the '97 deal. Prompting that write-down, Callahan explained, were persistent post-9/11 concerns over signature properties' diminished appeal and lower rents.
The market seems to mirror those concerns. The 110-story Sears Tower was recently appraised at $826 million, a sharp drop from 2001's $911-million appraisal.
Moreover, some high-profile tenants are defecting, countering earlier reports that Sept. 11's attacks were having no impact on Sears Tower's occupancy.

Still struggling for tenants nearly two years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Sears Tower will be handed over to its lender to prevent the skyscraper's owner from defaulting on its massive mortgage, sources close to the deal said Thursday.

Anxiety over a possible terrorist attack on the world's second-tallest building has dramatically reduced the attractiveness of the 110-story tower to some existing tenants and many prospective ones.

As a result, the tower's market value has dropped, and the building now is unlikely to be worth the value of the outstanding loans when they come due, forcing a likely default by owner Trizec Properties Inc.

Chicago-based Trizec plans to transfer ownership of the tower to lender MetLife Inc., the large New York-based life insurance company, sources said. The two sides are expected to announce the deal sometime in August.

MetLife Inc. has praised Trizec's management of the skyscraper during the 22 months since the destruction of New York's World Trade Center. And as part of the building's return, MetLife is expected to retain Trizec as the manager of the 3.7-million-square-foot tower, sources said.


Debt, 9/11 fears shadow landmark

The cloud of 9/11 continues to shadow the tower, located at 233 S. Wacker Drive. Since the attacks, many tenants have talked openly about their fears that the tallest building on Chicago's skyline will become a terrorist target.

"You can completely forget about Sept. 11, but as soon as you go back into that building, you think about it again," said Alain LeCoque, managing principal of the Chicago office of Newmark & Co. Real Estate Inc., which represents tenants looking for office space.

At the same time, continuing softness in the downtown office market has given current and prospective Sears Tower tenants plenty of alternatives that are cheaper and less worrisome.

High-profile companies that plan to move out of the tower include local offices of the Goldman Sachs & Co. investment bank, Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. and Merrill Lynch & Co., which will keep a small office there.

"It's one of the best buildings in the country, but the reality is that after Sept. 11 people look at the building differently," said Michael O'Hanlon, executive vice president of Northbrook-based Grubb & Ellis Co., a real estate firm. "Over time, that perception will change."

But not in time for Trizec, sources said. The building owner's debt, which totals $760 million, including accrued but unpaid interest, comes due July 2, 2005. In a highly leveraged 1997 deal, Trizec paid $70 million to gain control of the tower, subject to MetLife's mortgage.

In November, Trizec wrote down its initial investment in the tower to $23.6 million. Trizec could lose some or all of its investment, depending on its deal with MetLife.

A MetLife spokeswoman declined to comment Thursday. A Trizec spokesman said the firm also would not discuss the status of the talks, adding: "We continue to work with MetLife to reach a resolution that would be good for both parties, and for our tenants."

Sears Tower is generating enough cash to keep Trizec current with its mortgage payments. Many of the tenants, including some that are leaving, have long-term leases. The building was 89.2 percent leased in the first quarter.

Trizec's problems also reflect its decision to buy the tower with a large amount of debt, or leverage. "Any real estate that you buy with 90 percent leverage, if the market goes up, you're a big winner," said analyst Jim Sullivan of California-based Green Street Advisors Inc., who has pressed Trizec to surrender the tower. "And if the market goes down, you get wiped out pretty quickly."

The nationwide downturn in the office market has hurt Trizec more than many office-building companies because of the Chicago firm's high debt level, about 65 percent of total company value. As a result, Trizec investors are likely to be pleased with the return of the tower.

Handing back the well-known tower would be a setback for Timothy Callahan, who became Trizec's chief executive in August and who has been trying to guide the company toward a revival. Callahan had hoped to persuade MetLife to restructure the loan, which charges interest at rates above current levels.

Trizec had threatened to walk away from the tower, betting that the conservative life insurance company would readily renegotiate the debt rather than take title to the tower, given its uncertain value. But MetLife executives are said to have been unmoved.

Nonetheless, the negotiations have been cordial, as shown by the likelihood that Trizec will continue to manage the building. Earlier this year, Trizec said its annual Sears Tower management fees and leasing commission would range from $2 million to $4 million.

The decision to give up Sears Tower also will be a test of Callahan's leadership. Several top Trizec executives believe the massive building would regain its value before the debt came due. And many Trizec employees who work in the tower have become emotionally attached to the skyscraper since the terrorist attacks.

Though Callahan shared that sentiment, his decision to hand back the building reflects a more dispassionate view of the trophy tower. Police probing suspicious activity around Loop buildings By John Garcia
March 16, 2006 - Chicago police are investigating cases of suspicious activity at two Loop buildings. One of them is the Sears Tower.

Since 9-11, the Sears Tower in particular has turned up on several lists of possible targets for terrorists. ABC7 news has reported sightings of suspicious looking individuals photographing the building numerous times in the past several years. Law enforcement officials have always publicly downplayed these incidents and they attempted to do that again Thursday.
Sears Tower employees Thursday reportedly received bulletins from building management reassuring them that there is no terror threat. But those bulletins failed to explain the incident ABC7 reported, that three suspicious looking men in a rental car pulled up to the building recently, got out and began studying the building. According to law enforcement sources, they took pictures before building security ran them off, but they never got their identification. Those sources tell ABC7 the car was rented to a fake name.

The entire incident was captured on building security video, which was turned over to members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

A Sears Tower spokesman said Thursday the men were not taking pictures. He issued a statement saying "investigators later reported back to Sears Tower security that they had no reason to believe the activity was criminal or cause for any further concern."

Law enforcement sources however have told ABC7 news the investigation is ongoing and they have been unable to identify the men from the video.

Sources also say a second suspicious incident at the Boeing corporate offices is also under investigation. This time a lone man, reportedly suspicious looking, was seen sketching the building. Security questioned him and took pictures of his sketch, though they never got his ID. A Boeing spokesman Thursday confirmed they reported it to authorities who have been conducting an investigation.

FBI spokesman Ross Rice says the Sears Tower incident actually happened several months ago. He contradicts the information from our sources. Ross said investigators were able to trace the car outside the Sears Tower to a real person who they determined was not a threat.

But this incident is just the latest of a number of similar ones we have reported on over the last few years.

FBI Denies Media Reports Of Danger At Sears Tower

The FBI on Thursday refuted media reports that a terrorism investigation was under way into an incident involving three men who behaved suspiciously outside the Sears Tower.

While three men did stop near a loading dock at the tower in October, they were not a threat, FBI spokesman Ross Rice said.

A brief story about the incident appeared in some editions of Thursday's Tribune, and a Chicago television station ran a similar report.

The Tribune article incorrectly reported that three men took photographs of the building about three weeks ago and were driving a rental car that was leased under a false name.

The men never took any photographs, Rice said Thursday. They were immediately approached by Sears Tower security officers and asked to leave. Chicago police investigated the incident and determined the men were not a threat, Rice said.

The men were driving a rental car that was leased to one of the men under his name, not a false name, Rice said.

Mark Spencer, Sears Tower spokesman, also said that investigators did not believe there was any criminal activity.

"Contrary to news reports, the men were not taking pictures of any kind and this did not happen three weeks ago. The men left, as instructed," Spencer said in the statement.

"Sears Tower security staff works with local and federal law enforcement officials on a regular basis on any number of issues, large and small. We are confident that local and federal investigators remain diligent in investigating anything suspicious we report to them, whether it ends up being cause for concern or not," the statement read.

PLYMOUTH (PA) -- Two men whom police described as Middle Eastern were detained in the township by federal immigration authorities after being found with detailed video footage of the Sears Tower in Chicago.

Plymouth Police encountered the men after an officer responded to Pizzeria Uno on West Ridge Pike at 2:40 p.m. Thursday for a report of illegal dumping.

A manager there advised the police officer that a tractor-trailer was observed backed up to the dumpster at the rear of the restaurant. The manager noticed a freshly dumped pile of furniture adjacent to the Dumpster, according to police. The manager confronted the vehicle's operator, a Middle Eastern man, police said.

The man, who later identified himself as Moshe Elmakias, 30, denied that he did anything and fled the scene, heading west on West Ridge Pike... The manager was able to provide township police with the Florida registration number of the tractor-trailer and said that a sign posted on the side of the vehicle read "Moving Systems Incorporated" police said.

The area was searched by township police, and the vehicle was spotted parked on the curb in front of John Kennedy Ford on Ridge Pike. An officer proceeded to make contact with the occupants of the truck by knocking on the cab, according to reports.

A Middle Eastern man, later identified as Ron Katar, 23, exited the sleeper area of the cab and said that the operator was across the street as he pointed toward the Don Rosen Porsche dealer, reports said.

Elmakias and a white female, Ayelet Reisler, 23, were approaching the vehicle from the dealership, but the female then began walking in a different direction, acting as if she were not with Elmakias, according to reports. Reisler was detained and checked for identification. She had a German passport in her name and medication in a different name, police said. Plymouth Police Sgt. Thomas Longo was notified and responded to the incident.

Elmakias allegedly admitted to being behind Pizzeria Uno, although he said that he did not dump furniture, he was only turning around. Elmakias said that his destination was New York and that he was also coming from New York. He said he was in Plymouth because he was supposed to make a pickup in the morning and pointed toward the Storage USA facility on Belvoir Road , police said. Elmakias could not, however, provide a name or telephone number of the customer.

Township police dispatched a request for a Motor Carrier Program Inspector. Officer Gerald Schwartz of the Whitpain Police Department responded. Schwartz discovered through his investigation that the operator's log had been falsified and put the truck out of service due to violations. Inspection of the tractor-trailer's contents revealed a load three-quarters full containing household items, including furniture and boxes. Among the items in the truck was a Sony video camera. Plymouth Police Officer David McCann reviewed the tape found inside the camera. The tape had video footage of Chicago with zoomed-in shots of the Sears Tower, according to police.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified of the incident and all three subjects were transported to the Plymouth Police station. FBI Agents James Sweeney and Richard Tofani arrived at the station and proceeded to investigate both the subjects and their belongings with the assistance of Immigration and Naturalization Services. All evidence collected by Plymouth and Whitpain officers was transferred to federal facilities. Special Agent Linda Vizi, a spokeswoman for the Philadelphia FBI, could not be contacted for comment on further investigations.
