In the early 1990s, Dr. Michael Shermer catapulted to prominence as a “skeptic” by attacking, vilifying, and lying about Jewish Holocaust revisionist David Cole. While befriending Cole and profiting from the association (Cole even got Shermer his first national TV gig), Shermer took every opportunity to stab Cole in the back every chance he got. Even after Cole left the revisionist scene, Shermer continued to attack him in two separate books.
Shermer claims to despise "true believers," but when it comes to Holocaust revisionism, the "skeptic" inside of him runs for cover, and the "true believer" emerges.
Shermer’s disgraceful behavior is detailed in Cole’s book, “Republican Party Animal,” in which transcripts of recorded conversations with Shermer reveal his admissions that he lied about and defamed Cole. Shermer went so far as to have his lawyers threaten Cole’s publisher with legal action to prevent the book from being released. Cole and his publisher sent Shermer and his lawyers running, retreating from their threat, and promising no more trouble as they scurried away like mice.
As far as Cole is concerned, there are no more hard feelings. Time for dinner! Yes, Dr. Mikey Shermer has announced a private dinner party and wine tasting event at his “cliff-side home” on January 25th, with special guest Bill Nye the Science Guy, which can be attended by anyone for a donation of a mere $500.
What better opportunity for David and Mikey to bury the 22-year-old hatchet? Dinner, wine, and the side of a cliff...a perfect recipe for reconciliation. The only problem is, David is ethically troubled by the notion of paying $500 to a man who defamed him and helped fuel the lynch-mob that nearly cost him his life.

We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets for our air force…. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under.

If Shermer is as crazy as Cole says he is, then he'd better be very careful. I understand Cole's desire for revenge, but Shermer might try to kill him.
