CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- Vice President Nicolas Maduro says Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has died at age 58.
The populist leader of oil-rich Venezuela became Latin America's most vocal and controversial leader and was Washington's chief antagonist in the region.

Not necessarily. I'm pretty sure his ruling party is still in charge and I'm sure he picked someone to take over after his death.. He's been ill for a while now. I doubt he died suddenly without any plans in the works.JayJ wrote:Venezuela is going to get screwed over by the US now.

Hugo Chavez remains an important leader in our time. As an outspoken voice against all forms of American/Weatern/European imperialism, he will be remembered and hourned by history. I don't know much about him or his governments policies, considering anyone empowered to that leval courts corruption, so he might of been pretty fucked up in his own way. That said, he was a voice against the onslaught of western corporate dominance & will be missed by those that support such voices against those powers. RIP...
