Otaku is beyond geek, its not necesarily negative. There are both cool and introverted socially inept dork Otakus. But what does it mean? Its like that guy in tropic thunder who is talking about gaming and porn and video formats who no one is listening to, he is otaku. If you had any idea what he was saying, you might be Otaku
If you agreed with what he said and referred to that scene for your argument, you might be Otaku.
If you know what the word Edrik means you might be an otaku.
If you can play any of the super mario game songs on a musical instrement you might be an otaku.
If you close your eyes and take a mini nap with 'your team' as they sleep in a tent on a save point you might be an otaku.
If you even know what that last sentence is talking about you might be an otaku.
If you have ever had a 'debate' about Evangelion, Warcraft, or Starcraft as to what all are advantages and not you might be an Otaku.
If you have even written as serious Who would win response between comicbook characters, you might be an Otaku.
If you actually referenced comicbooks by title and number to support your argument you might be an Otaku.
If you knew the issues without having to look them up you might be an Otaku.
If the thought of watching dubbed anime makes you wanna sounds sacrilegious, you might be an otaku.
If you know the theme song of an anime when you dont even speak Japanese, you might be an otaku.
If you ever canceled plans in order to see what happens on DBZ or Gundam you might be an otaku.
If you cosplay solo and its not Halloween you might be an otaku

Houdouken know what that is? Then you know what you are.
If you have any pets named after anime characters you might be an otaku.
If you have any children named after anime/gaming characters you might be an otaku.
Frank Miller, Jeph Loeb, Grant Morrison ring a bell? You might be an otaku.
If you have ever taken a picture of your results of a first person shooter game, you might be an otaku.
Gil, HP, MP, Bahamut speak that language? Then you might be an otaku.
