Sorry if there is already a sticky'd thread like this but how about we list helpful books on pretty much anything (and categorize them)?
I'll list some stuff, and just ignore me if there is a thread like this already.
The Gaza Strip: The Politics of De-Development
Terror in the Land of the Holy Spirit: Guatemala Under General Efrain Rios Montt, 1982-1983
It's No Secret: Israel's Military Involvement in Central America
Spiritual Warfare: The Politics of the Christian Right
Thy Will Be Done: The Conquest of the Amazon : Nelson Rockefeller and Evangelism in the Age of Oil
Facts on the Ground: Archaeological Practice and Territorial Self-Fashioning in Israeli Society
Suggestion, Recommended Reading thread?

Re: Suggestion, Recommended Reading thread?
Its very detailed, and uses mainstream primary sources.
In the intro, the authors explain that they referred to the mainstream press purposefully to communicate the book's ideas to a wider audience.
Check it out, buy it used. Very informative.
It's a great rebuttal to the inane defense of Israel's PR extravaganza in Haiti. People seem to think that States have 'morals'.
Oh and it helps to know about Guatemalan history during this timeframe and especially who Efrain Rios Montt is.
