Right, if you die in the air while being medivaced, you aren't considered a casuality...or if you die in the hospital, same. Also if you are a soldier who is trying to earn citizenship (IE Mexican or African) you aren't considered a casuality either. That's one huge way to skew numbers expecially with the battlefield tech of instantly being able to remove injured/dieing soldiers. Also many who would have died in a previous war now live without limbs.

Usually 5 to 10 times more troops loose limbs or suffer nerve damage, than actually die. That can be just as bad in some cases.

And, obvously you aren't counted if you die from depleted uranium.

And to most Americans you don't count if you're an Arab.

because of the new body armor we are having a lot more wounded. Anyone who thinks we only lost 180 people in the actual war needs their head examined. We are approaching 3,000 admitted eath so mulitply that by 3 and you will get what is closer to the real death count, the people who died in flight or the people who died in hospitals in Kuwait or Germany.

what's sad is that the us soldiers over there still think they are helping iraqis and bringing them freedom. this brings me to a proposal which might seem a little too much for some of you but maybe we should all meet in washington in front of the white house and demonstrate with other people that support us. we could show pictures of what is going on and how many americans really have died in iraq and so on? im not saying that we do this tomorrow but maybe sometime in the future?

Check my post...Latin American and African aren't told. Most are said to have died in other ways, often undisclosed. I had a friend who's father was a Navy Pilot during the cold war. They said that he died after his plane left the carrier wrong and drowned in his own parachute--somewhere in the Mediteranian. They suspected otherwise and demanded a body. None was ever produced and it was speculated that he had been shot down. If you talk to some expilots in that era, you'll know that many more were shot down over former soviet soil then was everr admitted. When soldiers die, it's easy to not produce a body and make it appear that it happened elsewhere. It's not like Mother's have their own TV or newspapers to relay the deaths. Some places you will hear more, but most mothers want to be left alone...and not politicize their children's death. Another part is that many of the mothers don't speak English (usually Spanish) and they don't want to rock the boat especially with the "warm" reception they receive already in the US.
